F.A.Q.
Some frequently asked information about our speakers : choices, implementation, associations...
We know each project is unique, please contact us for customized advice.
The first criteria to consider are related to the listening room: its size and volume, the listening distance, and whether or not the speakers can be placed further from the back wall.
Joy is specifically designed for small spaces (15 to 25 m²).
NEL is suitable for larger rooms (between 25 and 40 m²).
Nora, on the other hand, requires a minimum of 40 m² to perform optimally and a greater listening distance (3.80 m to 5 m).
These figures are not absolute; they should be adjusted according to the nature of the listening room, its furnishings and decor, and the listening distance. Please feel free to contact us for expert advice tailored to your specific needs.
The overall design is common to both models. Joy Extreme is positioned as a higher-end option in terms of its tweeter, internal wiring, crossover components, and speaker terminals. The choice will depend on the level of your listening expectations and also on your budget. The Joy Extreme Evo will distinguish itself through its realism and naturalness, the richness of its timbre, and the depth of its soundstage.
A crucial point: the quality of the electronics and associated cables must be consistent to achieve a relevant and natural listening experience with the best price-to-enjoyment ratio. A guideline for budget: The amplifier and source should each represent between 50% and 120% of the speakers' price, depending on the level of realism and refinement you seek and the quality of your listening room.
Regarding cables, the range of options is enormous in terms of cost; this is a point to consider on a case-by-case basis. We can advise you based on your project and budget.
The overall design is common to all three models, as the NEL concept was conceived from the beginning with significant potential for future development in the high-end market. The differences between each model concern the tweeter, internal wiring, crossover components, and speaker terminals. The choice will depend on your level of expectation and your budget.
The evolution within the range is characterized by a notable improvement in realism and naturalness of sound reproduction, as well as the richness of its timbre and the depth of its soundstage.
The quality level of the electronics and associated cables must be appropriate to achieve a coherent and natural result. A guideline in terms of budget: The amplifier and the source should each represent between 50% and 120% of the speakers' price, depending on the level of realism and refinement you seek and the acoustic qualities of your listening room.

T&T speakers are designed to listen to all types of music. Our credo is that, lacking any indisputable reference point for the "truth" of an artist's performance during recording, we can never claim that any particular system holds the definitive truth.
Therefore, we work differently: during development, the speakers are listened with a very wide variety of music, from large classical ensembles, opera, instrumental and vocal jazz, electronic music, metal, blues, rock, and more.
The idea is that in any case the music must sound credible, coherent, and intelligible, with a high level of listening comfort. T&T speakers may not be particularly flattering on any one track, but they will allow you to explore your entire music collection with a reproduction that is remarkably faithful to the source material (CD, vinyl, digital file, etc.).
For optimal sound imaging, the speakers should be positioned further away from the back wall and from the hi-fi rack if it's placed in the center, between the speakers. The more space there is, the better the soundstage!
The distance between the speakers should be roughly the same as the listening distance, or slightly less. Note that the larger the speakers, the more width they need for the soundstage to develop freely. In terms of toe-in, the speakers should be angled towards the listener with a convergence point about 1 meter behind them. This is a starting point and should be adjusted according to the room, and especially the available space to the left and right of the speakers.
The closer the speakers are to the side walls, the more they should be toe-in to minimize early reflections from the side walls.
The JOY Evo should be placed on a stand approximately 60 cm high. The quality of the stands has a real impact on sound reproduction: they must be sufficiently inert, rigid, and decoupled from the floor by spikes, for example. The base must be very rigid and non-resonant.
Yes, it is possible to place JOY on a piece of furniture. However, the results will be less refined than if installed on a proper stand.
For a satisfactory result, the support surface must be stable, rigid, and non-resonant, and the speaker must be sufficiently clear of space not to overly restrict the development of the soundstage.
First, it's important to know that not all manufacturers use the same protocol to display sensitivity values. The values we provide are actually measured at 1 meter. Some manufacturers use measurements taken close to the speaker, then extrapolated to 1 meter: this results in a value that doesn't account for the "baffle jump" effect and displays a value several dB higher for the same physical reality.
Furthermore, sensitivity and dynamic range should not be confused: Dynamic range depends on the choice of drivers, the overall design, the crossover network, the components selected, the type of internal damping, and so on. T&T speakers are designed to draw the bare minimum of energy to ensure openness and accurate dynamic range. Therefore, ultimately, hundreds of watts aren't necessary, although the amplifier's current capacity remains significant in all cases, in order to reproduce even the most pronounced dynamic variations as faithfully as possible.
The design of T&T speakers takes the amplifier's impedance into very careful consideration: it is specifically corrected in the midrange to avoid imposing abrupt changes in level and phase on the amplifier. The standard impedance of the speakers is 4 ohms (except for the PF2, which is 8 ohms), which doesn't impose any particular constraints on the amplifier, as it does not go significantly lower than 4 ohms. However, sufficient current capacity is necessary for the speakers to perform at their best.
Regarding Joy and Nel, a good 2 x 50W integrated amplifier is perfectly suitable, provided it isn't current-limited. There are no recommendations concerning amplifier technology; it's a matter of personal preference. The damping factor will significantly influence bass control, precision, and also its overall presence. The louder you want to listen in a large room, the greater the amplifier's current capacity and damping factor will need to be. We can advise you based on your room configuration and listening preferences.
Regarding Nora, the larger diameter of the drivers, along with the more power-hungry 3-way configuration, requires greater current intensity, so so say a more powerful amplifier. Similarly, since the bass response is more energy-dense, the damping factor will have a greater impact on the sound reproduction than with 2-way configurations.
T&T speakers are developed using Absolue Creations cables, and the Normandy-based brand is also featured in the internal wiring of most models.
Choosing Absolue Creations for the entire system is therefore a logical and reliable choice in terms of consistency and performance optimization.
However, there is no reason not to use other brands, although preliminary testing is highly recommended, given the significant differences in sound reproduction offered by various manufacturers.
We believe that cables are an integral part of the system, just like the source or amplification: they are therefore an aspect of the system that should be taken seriously.
